The creative theme for this half term is 'Super Sleuths!' We will be looking at Light in science and investigating what light is! In topic we will be looking in to the history of the Anglo-Saxons and Vikings; exploring how and why they invaded Britain and what they brought with them that we still use today.
Thank you for your continued support and we both look forward to working with all the children in year six during the spring term.

Castlerigg Advent Day
What an amazing we had with the Castlerigg team, learning all about Advent.
The children made Advent promises, made Advent beads, acted out bible stories and learnt a new song.
Well done to Year 6 for listening and responding very well to the team - it made the day so good with meaningful reflection and prayer time.
Thank you to Castlerigg team for coming and sharing!

TOPIC: DT - Cooking!
In Design Technology, we researched the chef Jamie Oliver and what he did for school dinners! In Science we had been looking at what a healthy lifestyle means and how food is a big factor in this.
Linking the 2 we did our market research on the children at our school and asked them about school dinners. Using this information we designed and then made 5 different meals that could be used in as a school meal. We also thought about the price of the meals too.
Look at our pictures to see the end result!
The evaluations proved our meals were a great success!
In RE we wrote letter just like Saint Paul did to spread the good news and give advice to people who needed it the most.
Our letters were giving the Year 2 children advice about their move into the Juniors and how following in Jesus' footsteps will help them in this move.
We shared our letter with the Year 2s who could recall lots of advice from our letters afterwards.
We took apart in lots of activities over the week linked to World Book day!
We had fun sharing books with Year 2 and we loved dressing up on the actual day!
We also created our own book all about ghost stories - we were very good at creating atmosphere to creat a picture using words and punctuation!
Year 6 Winners of the whole school competitions were:
Brachn - best story / improved writer
Haydon - best costume
Annalise - book in a box winner
Lancaster University came to visit us to teach us about minibeasts and coding!
WE looked in to parasites and used this information to create one using the computer.
This links with our prior knowledge of animal adaptations and the classification of all living things.
In science we have been investigating electrical circuits; from this we linked our knowledge of complete circuits using motors and looking at pulley systems - we created our own fairground rides!
We designed, followed instructions and made these wonderful models; take a look!
As part of Science week, all of KS2 went to Eureka to investigate all parts of science!
We had great fun walking round the mueseum and then in our coding workshop!
Look at photos to see what we got up to!
