ART WEEK EXHIBITION

Our Autumn Art Exhibition took place during the week of 20 November.  Every child worked with a local artist to produce work in a variety of media.  The exhibition was opened by the Bishiop and was well attended by parents, pupils and the general public.  Well done to all.  Here's to next year.

(More photographs can be seen on the class pages of the website)

On Friday 16th June, our Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 children took part in the Save the Children Den Day!

This fundraising event was to help raise money to ensure children around the world have a safe place to shelter and basics such as food and water in times of need.

We began the day by watching a video which showed us how events such as earthquakes can take the homes of children. We reflected and prayed for those without homes and talked about how our Den Day was to help us remember those who are not as lucky as us.

WE RAISED £49.00!

THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO DONATED £1 TO THIS WORTHY CAUSE!

Science Week

|

During the week before half term, St Joseph's celebrated all things Science! We investigated lots of different scientific processes and learnt about some famous scientists.

We ended the week with an open afternoon for our families and dressed up! We were allowed to dress as anything we wanted as long as we could explain the science behind our choice!

RE WEEK: VISIT FROM IMRAN

|

RE WEEK: ISLAM

On Tuesday we had a visit from Imran - who came from the mosque in Bolton.  Imran taught us about the Five Pillars of Islam and how Muslims worship God.  We learnt how Muslims pray, why they go on the Hajj to Mecca and the importance of praising God every day.  Did you know that in Islam God has 99 names?  Ask a someone from Year 4 and they will tell you some of them.

RE WEEK:  JUDAISM

Today (Monday 27th March) was the start of RE week in school.  We were visited by Rabbi Jeremy, who led a special assembly and visited classes to explain the Jewish faith.  He told us all about Kosher food, Passover and how Jewish people pray to God.  Thanks to Rabbi Jeremy for a great day!

BOOK WEEK

|

Book Week has been a huge success again this year.  All of the children have joined in with a week of events including a short story competition, the book in a box competition, book trails and quizes.  The children have also shared books with friends in different classes.

On Wednesday we were visited by Book Girl who led us in games and drama activities. Then we took part in a huge book swap - bringing in an old book and going home with a new one.  Friday morning was also very busy with a prize giving for stories, book boxes and costumes.  Check out the pictures below.  Thanks to all parents who have supported this week.

BACK TO THE FUTURE EXHIBITION

|

The first half of the Spring term has flown past and has seen the whole school busily working on History topics.  From the wonders of Ancint Egypt to the First World War, the work has been creative, engaging and informative.

We finished the topic with an well attended Great Exhibtion in the School hall.  The photos below show the highlights of a very successful term of Topic work.
